The changing seasons bring forth a myriad of emotions and experiences. As we bid farewell to the warmth of summer, we welcome the crisp air and vibrant colors of fall. Soon after, the world transforms into a winter wonderland, adorned with sparkling snow and a sense of calm. These seasonal transitions have long been a muse for poets, inspiring them to create beautiful verses that capture the essence of these magical moments. In this article, we delve into the realm of fall and winter poems of 2020, exploring the emotions they evoke and the imagery they paint.

Fall Poems

The arrival of fall is often marked by a burst of colors as trees shed their leaves in a spectacular display. It is a season of change, where nature reminds us of the impermanence of things. Fall poems often highlight themes of transformation, nostalgia, and the beauty found in letting go. One such poem that encapsulates these sentiments is "Autumn Whispers". With vivid descriptions of swirling leaves and whispers of nature's secrets, it transports readers to a serene autumnal landscape. The alt attribute for "Autumn Whispers" could be "A golden forest bathed in hues of red and orange."

Winter Poems

As the temperature drops and the world is blanketed in snow, winter poems capture the stillness and tranquility of this season. They often celebrate the joy of cozy moments by the fireplace or the magic of snowflakes gently falling from the sky. "Frozen Reverie" is a poem that perfectly captures the ethereal beauty of winter. Its intricate description of delicate snowflakes and the peacefulness of a winter's night transports readers to a world of enchantment. The alt attribute for "Frozen Reverie" could be "A snow-covered landscape illuminated by the soft glow of moonlight."

Themes such as longing for a loved one, the nostalgia of childhood memories, and the promise of new beginnings are beautifully interwoven into the fabric of fall and winter poems.

Captivating the Senses

What sets fall and winter poems apart is their ability to engage our senses and transport us to another world. They paint vivid pictures through words, allowing readers to feel the crispness of the air, hear the rustling of leaves, and see the beauty in winter's silence. By incorporating sensory details, poets create an immersive experience that resonates with readers on a deep emotional level. These poems become a medium through which we can escape reality and embrace the intangible aspects of life.

The work that follows is a composition of two kinds of poems.

The first kind of poems have come from music. I started a Spotify radio based on a song I love called “Lost for Words.” I listened to the songs as I was working throughout the day and I found they brought me good spirits.
One afternoon, waiting for a friend at lunch, I found my fingers on a computer keyboard to Philip Glass’ Etude No. 2. I was in the word processor anyway, writing a report for a client, and with eyes closed, the music poured into words on the screen on new pages for me.

It’s become a fun game, playing the words to these piano songs.

A series of instrumental solos, each titled by the composer, with me as an accompanying orchestra member of words.
Each of the following poems was not created by me, but simply discovered. I have done my best to clear my mind and discover what each of these songs has to offer beneath their notes. To bring a written aspect to their aural tones is to aim to paint another dimension of the plane they already exist on. Hopefully I have done well enough in developing vision and dexterity through these “drills.”

The second kind of poems have come from a larger observation around a music that is less obvious. The changing of the seasons has become more tangible to me as I have spent more time in this world. There is a different energy with each of the weeks and months passing by us, before these cycles revisit us again.

Instead of seeking “optimal,” in my life or the world at large, I am increasingly fascinated with what the rhythm of these patterns looks and feels like. There is a kind of idea at large, in which, if one could identify the spirit of the time within its proper moment, there would be no “best” mood, but there would be a mood of the current moment, which could be seized and utilized for exactly what it was, no more and no less.

I do not yet completely understand these concepts yet myself, but I find them fascinating, and I find them important. I have tried to experiment and put to paper what I have found in the world so far. May it hopefully serve us all forward.
